We are moving! Discussions of all translation issues go here. Whatsapp sub-groups are being phased out.
It’s Moshe Katz here. Akiva and RA Alpert have graciously walked me thru gettting on to Discourse and, hopefully, making my first post. They deserve a Nobel Prize if i am successful!
I thought you would appreciate the following personal experience of mine.
… I was once speaking with Rav Shlomo Wolbe ZTL and I mentioned how inspired I am by Rav Hirsch and how he is so helpful in presenting Torah to modern, non affiliated, but intelligent Jews.
(As well as to frum Jews of all levels)
Rav Wolbe started smiling and reflecting, as if to decide whether he should share something with me.
And he told me the following,
“When I was a bachur learning in the Frankfurt Yeshiva, Rav Yosef Breuer ZTL was my Rebbe.
One day, he taught us Rav Hirsch’s commentary on Parah Adumah.
And I remember thinking to myself…
Why didn’t Shlomo Hamelech understand it!”
Kol tuv,
(Rabbi) Moshe Katz

This is Rav Hirsch’s brilliant and originanal explanation of Tumas Ha’mes, Impurity Transmited by a Corpse. It is taken from a great work, “The Hirsch Anthology” by Feldheim.
There is also an excellenty summary of it in the Art Scroll P 1216, bottom paragtraph , beginning with “Freedom”.
