For this yungerman from Yerushalayim the idea that a Gadol could be moved emotionally by interaction with people is unimaginable. I found this reminiscent of the story of Rav Shimon Bar Yochai emerging from the me’arah. Then again the resolution for that was to return to the me’arah. Perhaps this yungerman hasn’t spent enough time yet in the me’arah to appreciate the full power of the Ahavas Hashem that comes from ותוליכנו קוממיות לארצנו and לשמור ולעסות ולקיים את כל דברי תלמוד תורתיך באהבה.
I imagine that this was written as satire. But Mishpacha did print it…

Some people have taken the soul out of the Torah. For the person who wrote that, are there no emotions in עבודת השם? Or perhaps that’s just for the little people, but a גדול, he’s beyond emotions. Oy vey!

Turning “Gedolim” into semi-gods is so wrong.
Early in Bereishis (i think Lech Lecha) R’H quotes the Ramban, that the Tora is not shy of publishing the missteps of our Awos (and basically every prominent figure in TENACH).
Today children are educated to believe that past and current “Gedolim” are as holy as it gets and they are free of any sin and error. So a human emotion is a cause for suprise.
R’H also writes, that we dont know where Moshe’s Kever is, in order for it to not turn into an AZ. Compare this with the current Kivurim-Tourism incl. VIP-Packages.
