Also worth noting that Rav Dov Landau reportedly cancelled the latest planned protest.

Rabbi Hirsch endorsed it and Rabbi Landau vetoed it. No word yet on why.

From what I can glean it seems the intent was to defuse what could have been worse by endorsing something less confrontational. Rav Hirsch seems to have somewhat embraced the clever deflection but Rav Landau said no.
